Dubravka miss out on the start of the season

Dubravka miss out on the start of the season. Newcastle have been hit with bad news as goalkeeper Martin Dubravka could miss out on the start of the new season due to foot injury.

The severity of Dubravka’s injury is unknown. But it could put a halt on the loan of back-up goalkeeper Freddie Woodman to Bournemouth. Previously, the 24-year-old goalkeeper was close to joining Scott Parker’s team.

Dubravka was Steve Bruce’s number one team and was Slovakia’s number one at Euro 2020. But now looks set to miss out on helping the club at the start of the new season for a second straight year. Same, after last year’s ankle injury.

Karl Darlow was given the opportunity to start as Dubravka’s replacement early in last season in the Premier League. Before the gluttonous Slovakia returned to reclaim the real one in January onwards.

Mark Gillespie has only made three appearances in the League Cup, while 20-year-old goalkeeper Daniel Langley is another option.

Meanwhile, Woodman spent the last two seasons on loan at Swansea. That helping the Welsh club reach promotion last season’s play-offs.
